Our 5 Step Guide
to Acquiring a Home Care Package

1. Are You Eligible?
- You are over 65 (as a guide)
- You live in Australia
- You want to stay living in your home
- You need some support to live independently in your home
2. Register with My Aged Care and Arrange an Assessment
Contact My Aged Care to register: www.myagedcare.gov.au or phone 1800 200 422.
Schedule a home visit with ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) to assess your eligibility and the level of care you require.
Get in touch with us if you would like any assistance. We can also arrange a referral on your behalf for an ACAT assessment.
3. ACAT will Assess You
ACAT will visit your home to assess your eligibility and the level of care you require.
You will receive a letter from My Aged Care within a few weeks of the assessment notifying you of whether you have been approved for a package and the level of care you are eligible for.
You will then be placed on a waiting list known as the National Queue until a package is assigned to you.
Depending on the Home Care Package level, your waiting time can be within weeks or much longer.
5. You are Assigned a Home Care Package
You will be notified by letter as soon as a package becomes available and is assigned to you. This letter will include a referral code confirming your assigned package.
You will have 56 days to choose a provider and activate your package.
